ABOUT THE ARTIST
Charles R. Logan began uncovering his artistic talent in the late 1940's while attending Western High School in Washington, DC (now the Duke Ellington School of the Arts). Many of Charlie's paintings reflect his humble beginnings on a farm in McLean, Virginia; "Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures," said Henry Ward Beecher (US abolitionist and clergyman; brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe). Charles R. Logan brings to life his own experiences through his paintings. Charlie Logan and his wife Barbara reside in Warren County, Virginia.
EDUCATION
Although Charlie has been painting for many years, he also earned a living as a full-time pilot with USAir for 37 years. After retiring from USAir in 1992, he attended workshops with Charles Movalli and Charles Sovack and studied with portrait artist Danni Dawson at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia. His tutors include Robert Heuel, OPA, Anthony Watkins and Samuel Morgan Price.
WORKSHOPS
Charles R. Logan, a Virginia Landscape Artist, teaches beginning painting at the Millwood Community Center in Clarke County, Virginia. A former student once said, "He shows you everything, right down to how to clean your brush and how not to get a muddy palette."
SHOWS/EXHIBITS
In late 2006, the Blue Ridge Arts Council sponsored Charlie in a very successful one-man show in Front Royal, Virginia. Charles R. Logan was featured in the July 2002 issue of the Loudoun Magazine and the April 2006 issue of the Winchester Star. His work appears in the River'd Inn in Woodstock, Virginia, The Berkley Gallery in Warrenton, Virginia and a variety of yearly local art shows in the Northern Virginia area.
